At Riverway Rentals, your safety is our top priority.

Whether you’re paddling for the first time or you’re an experienced adventurer, we want to ensure every trip on the water is safe, enjoyable and memorable.

What We Provide

  • Transport Canada - approved lifejackets (PFDs) for every renter.

  • Basic safety gear included with all rentals (whistle, bailer, rope)

  • Safety briefing before each rental session

Your Safety Checklist

Before you head out, make sure you:

  • Wear your lifejacket (PFD) at all times on the water

  • Check the weather and avoid paddling in high winds or storms

  • Stay close to shore unless you are confident and experienced

  • Know your limits and take regular breaks

  • Tell someone your plans, including your expected return time

  • Avoid alcohol or substances before and during your paddle

  • Use caution when entering/exiting your canoe or kayak.

COLD WATER AWARENESS

Even in warmer months, water temperatures can be dangerously cold. Dress appropriately with quick-drying layers and bring extra clothing in a dry bag.

RIVERWAY RENTALS - DEPOSIT POLICY

WHY?

To confirm all equipment reservations, Riverway Rentals requires a refundable deposit. This policy ensures fairness for our customers while protecting our gear and scheduling availability.

DEPOSIT AMOUNTS

  • Canoes, Kayaks, Paddleboards: $50.00 per item

  • Group or Multi-Day Bookings (3+ Days or 3+ items): 25% of total rental cost

PAYMENT OF DEPOSIT

  • Deposits are due at the time of booking to hold your reservation.

  • Deposits can be paid via e-transfer, credit card (through website), or cash

REFUND CONDITIONS

  • 100% Refund Contact us 48 hours before your booking, or to reschedule


WEATHER EXCEPTIONS

  • In case of severe weather warnings (e.g., thunderstorms, high winds), deposits will be fully refunded or applied to a rescheduled date, whichever the customer prefers.

DAMAGE OR LATE RETURN

  • Deposits may be held or partially retained in cases of:

    • Damage to equipment

    • Lost gear

    • Late return (more than 30 minutes past the agreed time)

HOW TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE

Contact us at least 48 hours in advance to discuss cancellations or to reschedule your booking. We ain to accommodate all reasonable requests.

Emergency Contact

In the event of an emergency while on the water, call 911 and provide your location.

Our team is also trained to assist and respond quickly if needed.
